Life from Houston, Texas

June Weather – Houston, Tx.

Time is flying by. June was an active month and I can’t believe we are already half way through July today as I write this. Life as a new mom has me doing so much but I am glad that even though most of these posts are coming in late I am still able to post them.

June marked the beginning of the World Cup and boy oh boy have my family and I been enjoying it! We have loved all the emotional ups and downs that the various games have offered us. There have been many inspiring games where the underdog team has beat a giant, many hopes and dreams slashed when a team we were rooting for has been sent home, and many glorious “Goooooooal!” shouts arms raised, fists pumping in the air. Good snacks and drinks, laughs and cute pictures with out baby.

I actually made Holly a couple of little onsie “jerseys” to wear for various games it was great she looked so cute in them. She had such a good time watching the games with us. It was so cute to see her get excited and make her little baby noises. I’m sure it’s because we were excited but still it was great. It was actually my husband’s idea for me to make these little onsies and I am really glad I did because I really like how they turned out.

Aside from all the FIFA madness we of course also had Father’s Day, which was so great this year. It was my husbands first Father’s Day and we really enjoyed it as a family. To celebrate we had breakfast and headed out to check out Galveston beach and then ended the day by going to Barnes & Noble. So great!

July Weather – Houston, Tx.

July was marked by the extreme heat and definite summer vibes. For our Fourth of July celebration we joined our neighbors for a fun little pool party. Holly took a little dip in the pool for the first time in her little life. 🩷 I had a lot of fun making crafty home decorations. It’s been great to have little projects running in the background.

Gardening also featured heavily this month (July). Summer storms are kind of a thing here in Houston so the grass and weeds thrive! As such we have spent quite a bit of time braving the extreme heat pulling weeds and cutting grass. I actually learned how to weed wack!

The other development has been trying to manage our food and exercise. We purchased a treadmill, my husband built it, and we’ve started using it. 😊 Here’s to getting fit this summer haha.

Books

Finished reading:

This is the 2nd book in the series and I am happy to report that it is a long series (20 books) 😊 I’m hoping to get back to doing more book talk reviews for my reads but for now I will end by saying I am happy to have this series to turn to again and again.

It’s funny how I find that I actually really like series. There is certainly comfort in the familiar!

Other series I am interested in continuing are:

Kristen Perrin’s Castle Knolls Files Mystery Series.

Lindy Ryan’ Bless Your Heart Duology – I don’t think this is a continuing series unfortunately but maybe if enough readers come along and clamor for more this can change 😈

Juneau Black’s Shady Hollow Series (currently reading book #4)

A look at August

I’m excited for this new month because I am hoping it will help me reset in a major way. I have been trying to get ahead of activities I know I work on monthly so really hoping I can spend more time doing all the things I love! Caring for a baby takes so much time! So I am trying to find a new balance between the old me and the new me. I want to be present for my little girl who means everything to me while still making time to do personal things that bring me joy. Wish me luck!
