Monthly Recap: March 2026

“March bustles in on windy feet and sweeps my doorstep and my street.”

Life From Houston, Texas

Houston, Tx. March Weather

This post is going up late but better late than never! Life as a new mom is no joke, there is little time for much of anything these days other than taking care of baby. I’m trying hard to find my new groove, to make space and time for my personal projects.

March was a good month. There were plenty of days with good weather which was great! ❤️ We spent time outdoors, cleaned up our backyard, and baby Holly turned two months!

It’s interesting having a birth age and then also and adjusted age for her. So because she was born prematurely we have to also consider her adjusted age, which is the age she would be had she been born at full term. For that she would have turned barely 1 month in March! kind of crazy to think of.

Books Read This Month

My Favorite Read

📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚📚

Hands down my favorite book this month was The Secret of Orange Blossom Cake by Rachel Linden. I gotta say I find her writing very lovely. This is the second book I read by her and both this one and The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie have been a delight.

I have found her work to be cozy, comforting, entertaining, and also full of little life lessons encapsulated in very quotable passages. Here is one such little quote:

“What if the most important thing in life is not feeling safe? What if it’s to love something or someone enough that they’re worth risking for?”

This story in particular was about a young woman in her 30s trying to find her way in life. She ends up going to Italy, where her family is from, and reconnecting with her culture in a way that changes everything.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a feel-good story centered around food. There is some romance, a magical recipe book, and relatable bits like a girl trying to make something of herself using social media.

Arts & Crafts

Crochet 🧶🧶🧶🧶

Kept working on my springtime crochet blanket. I love this little pattern and the way it works up into a super cute little baby blanket.

Around the House

Decorating

Our door this March

This month we bought a cute little breakfast nook table for two. We didn’t put it in our breakfast nook in the kitchen and instead opted to have in our bedroom. With our little girl we find that often times we end up eating in the room and so having a little seating area in here will be nice. I like that it is next to our large windows and looks out into our backyard. I want to decorate the walls around it and make it feel like a little cafe spot in our room 💕

Gardening

This month we had a bit of a flower explosion. It was particularly fun to see the little pink flower bush bloom because prior to this it didn’t look very impressive and I thought I might want to take it out. Now that I know what pretty flowers it has I of course won’t be doing that lol.

March was also the month we tackled the grass. My husband, Eric, bought some much needed gardening tools like a lawn mower, leaf blower, and a weed wacker.

Chompers running around the yard after the grass was cut

Food

Carnitas Style Corned Beef

Such good food! Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of this month’s special meal but it was delicious! I love corned beef and generally it’s the St. Patricks Day meal that my husband will make for us bit this year he did a little twist on a classic, he made it in carnitas style.

I don’t know what recipe he used but I linked one I found online here in case anyone is curious.

Looking Ahead

April

April is well on it’s way by the time I am posting this so I will just end by saying I am looking forward to me and my husband’s fifth year wedding anniversary! We’ve been together for 13 but married five this April. Time flies!!

See you all again soon!
