“October is a symphony of permanence and change.”
– Bonaro W. Overstreet
** Note**
I know this post is very late but I had it written down and saved in my drafts and wanted to add it as a general update of where I have been in the not too distant past. Hoping to come back soon with a more recent update 🙂
My oh my! So much going on, hope all of you are having a wonderful fall season so far.
I am a bit sad that I haven’t been posting as much this year but I think in large part that is due to the fact that writing has taken a bit of a back seat. There is so much change happening in my life that I haven’t found the calmness in the storm to sit down and put pen to paper the way usually do.
I am now five and a half months pregnant with a baby girl and couldn’t be any happier. I am so excited for her to be in this world with me and so thankful that she has been growing well.
Also, the move to Texas is finally materializing after several months. My husband and I put an offer in for a house which was accepted and are now going through the process of buying our first home. It’s pretty exciting and kind of funny because we’ve had to do it all remotely. It’s certainly been an interesting experience buying a home without ever stepping foot in it first.
In preparation for this move and in context of my pregnancy, I also left my job as a bookseller at the end of September. I miss being at the bookstore surrounded by all kinds of stories, super cute gift-y things, and customers that were a pleasure to have conversations with. I miss my sweet co-workers and the smell of coffee and freshly baked cookies from the cafe.
I have worked several jobs in my lifetime so far. I’ve been a high school teacher, corporate employee, and had many other odd jobs growing up but I honestly think that being a bookseller has been my favorite so far and walking away from that world has been kind of sad. I think in a way being aware of these feelings helps me to know that the writing and publishing industry is where I want to be.
With these big life changes happening, I think it’s no surprise that I haven’t had the head space to properly work on any writing, personal or creative. I can’t wait to be settled in our new home and have my writing and crafting area set up again so I can start doing the things I love.
Hope to catch more soon, until then!
xoxo,
Angelica Sophia
