“May is the month of expectation, the month of wishes, the month of hope.”
– Emily Brontë
Too Much Good Stuff
Hello there! I’m a little late to the Mother’s Day party but still wanted to mention it here. I hope everyone had a lovely time. With that said, I also want to acknowledge that for some these holidays can be hard times, I know I certainly struggle with them in my own way. Some years are better than others, but all that is to say I send my love to you out there and as always and wishing you the best.
Since my last post (May 3rd) things have been slowing down on my end. It was so great to get so much work done at the end of April, beginning of May but after returning to work May 5th my writing work came to a bit of a halt. Sad.
My husband went on a business trip last week and it was so hard to get anything done. I ended up doing a bunch of laundry to keep myself busy and from missing him too much.
Feels like these past few weeks it’s just been one bit of disruptive news or event after another. I am really looking forward to having enough brain space again soon to focus on my developing story.
Adventures in Reading
Finished Books
The Littlest Library – Alexander Poppy
(Up-Lit)
Great book, really enjoyed the cozy, small town vibes. I think this type of book is my jam!
The Courage To Be Disliked – Ichiro Kishimi & Fumitake Koga
(Personal Growth)
Really great book! So many nuggets of wisdom and good advice. This book helped to reinforce a lot of little seeds that have already been growing inside of me. A big one is just living authentically, and one bit I loved toward the end of the book mentioned “the courage to be normal.”
Wandering Stars – Tommy Orange
(Literary Fiction)
This is the prequel/sequel to his first book – There There. Overall a good read, the first half read very lyrical, almost poetic to me. Not sure if that was just me and then the second half was more like his first book.
Currently Reading
Iron Flame – Rebecca Yarros
Yay! Finally getting to the second book in the series. Not very far a long yet but looking forward to it as I am getting though it.
If you have read this series I would be very interested in you thoughts. Did you like the second book? Do you think you’ll go for the third one?
TTFN
(Ta Ta For Now)
Thanks for hanging with me. I know this was a short entry but I didn’t want to skip it. Hoping that in the next one I can have a better update with regards to my own work. Wish me luck!!
xoxo,
