“Love will find a way through paths where wolves fear to prey.”
–Lord Byron

✨Happy Valentine’s Day!✨

Love is in the air, the sun is shinning, and the air is warming up. After almost a week of non-stop rain the change has been refreshing, although I will admit I do love the rain and kind of miss it….
Hope you all have been enjoying the cozy feelings of love, friendship, and appreciation for loved ones that February brings.
This year, I went all out and decided to lean in to February by decorating my home and while it certainly helped to set the tone, it has been difficult for me to find my way forward with my writing work.
Writing Life
Recently I have been finding myself distracted and struggling with my writing work, which of course is frustrating as hell. I have been trying to push through by brainstorming and jotting down notes but it’s been hard. Act II has been giving me quite a bit of trouble.
Initially I had been hoping to have some elements of magical realism in my story but the more I tried to force that, the more I struggled. Most recently I found a new way to develop the story. I think it will work and I see a way that I can still add a “splash” of “magic” to the narrative.
I’m really trying to push through and just remember that it’s still draft one. At this point I am living by the quote, “progress, not perfection.”
Book Life
Hooray for books! They have been lifting my spirits for sure!
💕Finished Books💕
Martyr! – Kaveh Akbar

(Urban Fiction/LGBT Literature)
Really enjoyed this book. The ending twist was fun. Overall it was an interesting take on living a meaningful life and the meaning of life broadly. It brings awareness to Iranian-American art, causes, and culture which I appreciate. One thing I wish it had more of was the AA sponsor we were introduced to in the beginning. I found his relationship with the main character very interesting.
I think this is a good literary fiction pick for anyone looking to read something new with depth.

Never Say You Can’t Survive – Charlie Jane Anders
(Fiction Writing Reference)
Oh My Goodness!
I just loved this book so much! I initially bought the hard cover edition (so happy I did) but I tend to be a slow reader so I borrowed the audio version from the Libby App to push through it quicker.
I loved every bit of it.
I think I will end up buying the audio as well just because I think this book is so worth it. The following are things I enjoyed about this book:
-Audio is read by the author
-So many good nuggets and pieces of advice
-Some writing exercises
-So much encouragement that helps you get inspired to work on your own stuff
Run and get it! You won’t regret it!
…
Check out my entire list of finished books so far here, maybe you’ll find one you want to read or have read already. Either way, let me know what you think!
💕Still Reading💕
Two Twisted Crowns – Rachel Gillig
(Romantasy)
This one carried over from before. You can read more about it on my previous post here.
Death Valley – Melissa Border
(Humorous/Magical Realism/Literary Fiction)
This is a new addition. I’ve had it on my shelves for a little while but with the end of Martyr! its time finally came. The things that pulled me in to this book were the magical realism elements. Still haven’t gotten to them yet but am looking forward to it.
What’s Next?
In my day to day I use a bullet journal to capture my everything in life, from future plans, to wish lists, and journaling etc. Today I decided to make some tweaks to my process and look forward to trying this out in the coming days. I hope it will help me to make progress on my goals.
Ta Ta For Now
Alrighty then, well that is all for now, really happy you stopped by! Until next time!!
